Olivewood Biosciences discovers and develops medicines for chronic inflammatory and immunological diseases by acting at upstream nodes of immune activation — the points where inflammatory signalling begins — rather than neutralising individual downstream cytokines once disease is already established.
Purpose-built to move programmes from target to patient
We were founded on a simple thesis: many chronic inflammatory diseases persist because cytokine biology is redundant. Blocking one cytokine often leaves others able to sustain disease. By intervening upstream, a single mechanism can suppress multiple downstream inflammatory outputs.
We select targets where human biology is well characterised and where genetics, translational data and clinical evidence can be integrated to inform potential safety and efficacy. Patient-selection and biomarker strategies are built into development planning from the outset.
Our teams work across immunobiology, medicinal and computational chemistry, protein biochemistry, structural biology, genetics and pharmacology, supported by internal discovery and development tools. Two modalities are pursued in parallel: small molecules for intracellular targets and oral dosing, and protein therapeutics for extracellular biology where several targets or receptors must be engaged.
